01 / BUSINESS

The business

Mr Phones sells new and customer-return mobile devices online, where product condition, battery health, warranty, configuration and trust can materially affect the buying decision.

02 / PROBLEM

What needed solving

Pre-owned technology creates extra buying questions around condition, certification, warranty, battery, configuration and whether the exact device can be trusted.

03 / APPROACH

What we prioritised

Build the experience around confidence: strong catalogue discovery first, then clear certification and Device Passport detail when the customer reaches a specific item.

What was built

The work followed the decision, not the other way around.

We shaped the catalogue, category discovery, filters, certified pre-owned proposition and Device Passport around buying confidence, then connected the wider retail workflow with marketplace presentation, eBay templates and automation.

Commercial decision map

When the exact item matters, product certainty becomes part of conversion.

Mr Phones connects front-end ecommerce UX with the catalogue and product-data decisions underneath it. The customer is not only choosing a phone model. They are deciding whether they trust this exact device.

Customer decision

Which exact device can I trust?

Condition, battery, warranty, colour, storage and configuration all need to be understandable without turning the PDP into noise.

Operational requirement

One catalogue, several channels

Website discovery, eBay presentation, condition data and automation work better when the underlying product structure is consistent.

What it demonstrates

Ecommerce UX + product data

Filters, catalogue architecture, exact-item evidence, marketplace thinking and automation connected rather than treated as separate projects.

Client work in progress , no unverified traffic, conversion or revenue claim.

Industry context

Why this type of project needs different thinking.

Electronics ecommerce is information-heavy. Pre-owned and customer-return devices add questions that do not exist on a simple new-product catalogue, so filters, specifications, grading, battery, warranty and exact-device evidence need to work together.

Project FAQs

Questions this work helps answer.

Why does a pre-owned phone store need more product detail?

The customer is evaluating the exact device as well as the model, so condition, battery, warranty and trust information need to reduce uncertainty.

Why connect marketplace work to the website project?

The catalogue and product data often feed several selling channels, so consistency across the website, eBay and automation matters operationally.

Current state: Client work · in progress. No traffic, ranking, conversion or revenue result is claimed unless it has been measured and approved.
