Should You Fix Your Website or Rebuild It?

A practical framework for deciding whether targeted improvements are smarter than starting again.

A dated website does not automatically need replacing. The right decision depends on what is actually holding the business back: credibility, mobile usability, conversion friction, search foundations, speed, content structure or the underlying technology.

Start with the commercial problem

Before changing the design, define what the website needs to do better. If the issue is a weak call to action, confusing mobile journey or missing local-search structure, a focused repair may create more value than a complete rebuild.

When keeping it makes sense

Keep the current site when the technology is stable, the information architecture is sound and the main problems are isolated. Protect rankings and working journeys rather than changing them for appearance alone.

When fixing it makes sense

Targeted UX, content, CRO, local SEO or performance work is often the best route when the core site is still useful but specific parts are underperforming.

When rebuilding is justified

A rebuild becomes more sensible when the underlying structure prevents meaningful improvement, the mobile experience cannot be repaired cleanly, the platform is limiting the business, or the site no longer supports the offer.

FifteenFold uses the same KEEP IT / FIX IT / REBUILD IT logic in our Website Rescue Review.
